Metropolis unveils opportunity style and design for new downtown park | KLBK | KAMC

LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lubbock on Tuesday presented patterns for a new downtown park. The new growth is component of a company redevelopment energy aimed at revitalizing the downtown area.

“The program for increasing Broadway was activating a civic coronary heart, a civic residing space,” Town of Lubbock Company Progress Director Brianna Gerardi stated.

The latest program spots the park at the corner of Broadway and Avenue M, changing the earlier Lubbock Power and Gentle building. If the Town Council approves of the last structure and location, the creating will be demolished to make room for the new block-huge park.

The $6 million design features a huge inexperienced area, a meals court, an amphitheater for reside concerts and situations, and a drinking water element for young children to enjoy. The metropolis says these attributes are dependent on community feedback.

“One of the factors we heard loud and crystal clear is that people today want a position to deliver their little ones, and they want a location for their children to participate in in h2o,” Gerardi stated.

Gerardi also hopes the park will catch the attention of corporations to open and stay in the downtown place.

“We see a whole lot of added retail and organizations wanting to be about a thing like this,” she explained. “We truly see it as something that will push added downtown enhancement, which is what we are hoping to do.”

City Council is even now looking at the models, still it is not distinct when the metropolis intends to split floor on the new park.
